Why did I resign... ? Obviously, this is my opinion since it is a question about me. Facts are probably obvious or you're welcome to ask. You've probably seen the phrase on T-shirts - "doesn't play well with children..." Unfortunately that's what it became. Throw in the bully on the playground and you start to get a slight view of the picture. Or, use the 3 - strikes I'm out rule... It starts with a resignation given in September 2008 by the ABATE President. His resigning was not the issue, how he handled it was another. It involved Frenchi and Lana and a "personal" conflict that was by far - unprofessional and childish. It ultimately resulted in Frenchi and Lana leaving ABATE. I sent this info to two past persons who have disappeared from ABATE - they sent back emails to me that were full of LOLOLOLOL. They also made a statement (both) that was new to me - "Welcome to Doc's world"... I heard that several time more as time went on. Two months later at a board meeting... we were are discussing the possibility of holding some meetings (board) by conference call. This was brought up in an effort to control cost and help those traveling long distances with time issues. Made good sense to me since I'm familiar with conference call protocol and is an effective way to converse, and record for purposes of record. I nearly resigned that next day... My emails about this to my friends resulted in the same - LOLOLOLOL As most know, Doc's mother took a very serious turn for the worse and passed away. Unfortunately, the Stiffer Penalties (SB968) bill suddenly hit a committee hearing on April 1st, only two days later. I notified Doc and informed him that I would go to Tallahassee and cover the information and the meeting so that he could take care of family. My responsibilities in Tallahassee were very black and white since prior conversations with him had taken place and decisions were already in place. There were no changes in the agreed procedures or amendment acceptances. But things went downhill fast... To this day, I have absolutely no clue of anything I did wrong, but here is what I was told by two different people. The fact that I had inserted myself into Doc's role automatically made me a conspirator (along with two other board members) to use his mother's death to overthrow his position and take over ABATE... Huh? This is when the text messages began to flow back and forth, and I stayed in constant contact with the Vice-President. It was not pretty and will be addressed more thoroughly in a separate area. I have save all my text messages and have had them archived by my phone service provider. The bottom line is... (along with personal stuff) I was accused of conspiring along with two other board members in trying to remove Doc from his position (which is impossible). Both of the other board members (participating coconspirators I guess) were also going to resign if the situation did not correct itself quickly. Details of this will be in another report. On April 1st, 8:15 am, I submitted my "Intent to resign" to the Vice-President with a brief explanation. At 9:25 am, the Vice-President resigned. At 10:00 am, the President resigned. Kind of makes you wonder what was so bad to cause a domino effect. Email to the Board - April 1st, 10:30 am That same evening, April 1st, an emergency conference call meeting was held and recorded. My reports (four pages) of the previous few days was read into the minutes. A second conference meeting was held on April 3rd, also recorded. The wagons were circled and nothing changed. I was asked to stay on a Legislative Director, comments were made that we (board members) should do a better job of supporting each other and that these kinds of problems should stay within the board. The "biker speech" - another classic that only us insiders get to hear - you should ask for his rendition... ABATE was formed by Bikers..., ABATE is run by Bikers..., and some members and board members are not Bikers... You must understand the Biker Club protocol to understand the problem that ABATE has with its present situation. He did let me know, as he does everyone, that he did not ask for, or require my resignation.... LOL After completing my duties, writing up the legislative agenda and making copies, getting them to Tallahassee with the FUBA booklets, I submitted my official resignation on April 10th, and was effective at noon. I still don't know if any was distributed in Tallahassee. If anyone actually finds out what I did wrong, please let me know... I still have no clue. The only response I've received so far is - "Welcome to Doc's world..." and that came from multiple people past and present. |
